The Telugu Desam politburo member, Mr Yana-mala Ramakrishnudu, said the TD was the first party to announce BC declaration aimed at BC welfare.
Speaking to newsmen here on Wednesday, he said that the BC declaration was formulated with 16 points, including reservation for BCs in legislative bodies, 25 per cent budget allocation for BCs, Rs.10,000 crore for BC corporation and 33 per cent reservation in local bodies.
He said 100 seats would be allotted for BCs in the coming elections and the candidates would be announced six months before the elections.
The senior TD leader said round-table conferences would be organised at Vijayawada, , Guntur, Visakhapatnam, Nellore, Anantapur and Tirupati to interact with leaders of BC associations.
He said as per the report submitted by Mr Devender Gowd, the Telugu Desam announced the BC declaration. He said that the TD would discuss the issue at the national level to provide reservation to BCs in legislative bodies.
The TD leader said that the Congress has failed to recognise the BCs during it’s 40 years of rule. Thousands of BCs were deprived of their livelihood during former chief minister Y.S. Rajasekhar Reddy’s regime due to acquisition of their lands in the name of SEZs. He said that fee reimbursement was implemented by the TD during Mr N. Chandrababu Naidu’s regime.
He said 10 per cent reservation should be provided to Muslims. He said a committee was formed with Mr Laljan Basha to submit a report on the issue. Mr Ramakrishnudu said that the state government has failed to protect the interests of farmers and the state was reeling under severe power crisis.
