The testimony of 'Amanat' (NOT her real name), who was brutally gang-raped and assaulted on a moving bus on December 16, has been recorded again today before a Metropolitan Magistrate. This is the second time that her statement is being recorded.
This follows a controversy in which the Sub-Divisional Magistrate who recorded her statement on Friday night alleged that the Delhi Police had 'interfered' with the recording and not allowed it to be video-taped. The police has denied these charges, and said the video-taping was not conducted per the wishes of Amanat's mother. Both parties, however, did not dispute the veracity of Amanat's statement.
Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit had demanded a probe into this incident and sources say the home ministry is likely to order an inquiry.
