Hyderabad, June 11: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Monday filed a petition in a Hyderabad court seeking permission to conduct a narco-analysis test on YSR Congress party chief Jagan Mohan Reddy.
Protesting against the step taken by the CBI, Jagan has warned of going on a fast in the upcoming days, media reports said.
Meanwhile, the special CBI court on Monday extended the judicial remand of Jagan till June 25.
Pertinently, Jagan's 14-day judicial custody came to an end on Monday.
The court gave the decision just a day before the crucial by-elections in Andhra Pradesh.
The by-polls, for 18 Assembly seats and one Lok Sabha constituency, assume significance as they are expected to reflect public sentiment ahead of the 2014 elections.
Reddy, who was arrested by the CBI on May 27 in connection with a disproportionate assets case in the midst of campaigning for the polls, has termed it a conspiracy hatched by the ruling Congress party.
While the 39-year-old chief of the YSR Congress was being grilled by the CBI, his mother and the party's Honorary President YS Vijaya Lakshmi took over the campaign.
Voting for the election will be held on June 12 and the votes are set to be counted on June 15. (IBNS
